I'm a student at JWC (h) I'm doing NC Digital Media Computing Int 2. I'm getting used to been in a bigger class and I've met new people. the class have been using Moodle to keep up to date on how we are doing. Our tutors put hand outs on it so we can use them to study in our free time. There are a wide selection of courses we are studying.

teen charged £510 for illegally downloading one song

Today i learned about a 14 year old boy David Hay from coat bridge was charged £510 after been caught illegally downloading one song from the Internet he was caught from spies that had electronically tagged the song (party anthem Jumping around the world) by a German band called scooter.

Accpetable use policy

Today i looked at Acceptable use policy when you sign up to a website is asks if you agree to the use policy before you can register.

I signed up for my space today and the acceptable use policy came up and i clicked i agree.

Anonymiser Software

Today Kenny was telling us about a program that protects your ISP while using Internet or emails it encrypts your ISP so when you send an email no one can see it but when it goes 2 the sender they can see its from you

AVG

Today i looked at AVG an anti virus program and i installed then configured it then done a scan it came up saying i had 4 tracking cookies but everything else was clear.

Proxy Servers

Today Craig green spoke to our class about proxy servers. A proxy server saves webpages that have been viewed so when someone else goes on the same site. It loads up faster because the system has saved all the components of the site.

(Proxy means with the authority to act for another.)

Proxy servers also block sites and logs webpages you've serched and you can also block websites.
